Drainage Calculator

Calculate drainage pipe, bedding, surround, and excavation quantities automatically.

What You Need:

  • Pipe diameter (100mm, 150mm, 225mm, etc.)
  • Total pipe length in meters
  • Average trench depth
  • Bedding class (A, B, F, N, S)

What It Calculates:

  • Pipe quantity (meters + wastage)
  • Bedding material (m³)
  • Selected fill/surround (m³)
  • Excavation volume (m³)
  • Trench width based on pipe size

How to Use:

  • 1. Select pipe diameter from dropdown
  • 2. Enter pipe length (e.g., 50 meters)
  • 3. Enter excavation depth (e.g., 1.2 meters)
  • 4. Choose bedding class (most common: Class F)
  • 5. Set wastage % (default 10% for bedding, 5% for pipe)
  • 6. Click anywhere or scroll to see results

Manhole Schedule

Calculate optimized manhole rings, base concrete, and covers for any chamber depth.

What You Need:

  • Chamber internal diameter (1050mm or 1200mm)
  • Ground level to invert depth
  • Cover and frame type

What It Calculates:

  • Optimized ring schedule (fewest rings)
  • Base concrete to DOT specification
  • Benching concrete volume
  • Backfill material required
  • Complete manhole BOQ

How to Use:

  • 1. Select chamber diameter (1050mm or 1200mm)
  • 2. Enter depth to invert (e.g., 2.5 meters)
  • 3. System auto-calculates optimal rings
  • 4. Adjust ring combination if needed
  • 5. View base concrete and benching volumes

Groundworks

Calculate Type 1 sub-base, capping, excavation, and fill quantities for any area.

What You Need:

  • Area to cover (length × width OR m²)
  • Sub-base depth (typically 100-300mm)
  • Capping depth (if required)

What It Calculates:

  • Type 1 sub-base volume (m³ + tonnes)
  • Capping layer volume
  • Excavation depth and volume
  • Compaction allowance (10%)
  • Material quantities with wastage

How to Use:

  • 1. Enter area length and width
  • 2. OR enter total area in m²
  • 3. Set sub-base depth (e.g., 150mm)
  • 4. Add capping depth if required
  • 5. System calculates materials + compaction

Shuttering / Formwork

Calculate formwork area and materials for walls, columns, beams, and slabs.

What You Need:

  • Element type (wall, column, beam, slab)
  • Dimensions (height, length, width)
  • Number of faces requiring formwork

What It Calculates:

  • Total formwork area (m²)
  • Plywood sheets required
  • Timber battens/walings
  • Props and supports
  • Material wastage allowances

How to Use:

  • 1. Select element type from dropdown
  • 2. Enter dimensions (meters)
  • 3. Specify number of sides needing formwork
  • 4. Add any edge strips or kickers
  • 5. View total area and materials

Excavation

Calculate excavation volumes for trenches, pits, and bulk earthworks.

What You Need:

  • Excavation type (trench, pit, bulk dig)
  • Dimensions (length, width, depth)
  • Ground conditions (for bulking factor)

What It Calculates:

  • Excavation volume (m³)
  • Bulking factor adjustment
  • Disposal volume (loose material)
  • Machine hours estimate
  • Skip/lorry loads required

How to Use:

  • 1. Choose excavation type
  • 2. Enter dimensions in meters
  • 3. Select soil type (clay, sand, rock)
  • 4. System applies correct bulking factor
  • 5. View volumes and removal quantities

Concrete

Calculate concrete volumes for slabs, bases, walls, columns, and footings.

What You Need:

  • Element type (slab, base, wall, column)
  • Dimensions (length, width, thickness/height)
  • Concrete grade (C20, C25, C30, etc.)

What It Calculates:

  • Concrete volume (m³)
  • Number of ready-mix loads
  • Wastage allowance (5-10%)
  • Approximate weight (tonnes)
  • Material quantities

How to Use:
